This type of 'layered' chop leaves more of the vocals in if you want to be 'chop not slop' style, for example. There are several good speed% to slow down by, every DJ has their own, I use about 3 different ones depending on the song's tempo (one per song, of course, just some songs sound better slower or faster than others on the pitch&time. Screwin is slowin it down and in VDJ its simple as can be. Jus lowerin the pitch. Choppin ya gotta have to tracks playing simantanously with one slightly ahead of the other. Then use the cross fader to 'chop' it back and forth. Slowing down a song to a furneral pace and repeating certain points of the songs to create a double-up effect. Chopped and Screwed music originated in the early 1990's from legendary DJ Screw, the godfather of Screwed Music, who perfected the art of slowing down one record on one turntable and then having the same record on another turntable at a delay so as create a repetition. In this edition of Watch and Learn, Krames shows us how to get a Chopped and Screwed effect using Serato. Started in Houston by DJ Screw, the technique is characterized by slowing down vinyl records, capturing a specific groove and chasing doubles of the same record.

The first thing you need to have is a song.
For example: USDA - White Girl or you can listen to a youtube version here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1K8XjRizVpE
The Second thing you need is a Audio editing program to screw and chop your songs ( I would recondmend you use Audacity: You can download Audacity here ) : http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/

Third, when you open Audacity you have the drag the audio track into the blank white space in the middle of the window until it looks like it has a lot blue lines.
Forth you will want to have the song stopped or paused. Then you double click the blue lines ( or the song ) to copy it all. Then you go to the top menu then go to effects: Click Change Speed. Now set it to about -15.
( Warning! Make sure that you do Ctr+Z to undo the speed, because if you do it more than once it will stack and make the song slower than it should!)
Now you got the Screwed part done of the song!
Now we want to do the Chopping:
Highlight part of the song ( with the blue lines ) now do Ctr+C or right click and copy. Then you have to paste RIGHT after then part you copied. (
